Northern Arizona University (NAU) Acceptance Rate, GPA, and Admission Requirements

NAU awards automatic tuition scholarships to incoming freshmen based on unweighted high school core GPA, with no separate application required beyond submitting the admission application. The tiers for Arizona residents range from the Dean's Award ($5,000/year, 3.0?3.39 GPA) through the Dean's with Distinction ($6,500), President's Award ($9,000, 3.5?3.74), and up to the Lumberjack Scholars Award (100% of Flagstaff campus tuition, for 3.75?4.0 GPA). For WUE-eligible out-of-state students, the parallel tiers run from WUE Blue ($7,000/year, 3.0?3.49) through WUE Gold ($8,000, 3.5?3.74) and WUE Excellence ($8,500, 3.75?4.0). These tuition awards are non-stackable with each other and cannot be combined with the A2E program - students receive whichever offers the greatest benefit. NAU's Access2Excellence (A2E) program guarantees full undergraduate tuition coverage - not a scholarship, but a guaranteed institutional commitment - for two distinct groups: Arizona residents with a household Adjusted Gross Income of $65,000 or less (as verified through FAFSA), and members of any of Arizona's 22 federally recognized tribes regardless of income or state of residency. Tribal members who live outside Arizona still qualify. The program applies at the Flagstaff campus and all statewide campuses; it does not apply to online-only students. Critically, the Honors College does not require a separate application for general membership in the way that some universities do - students can apply after admission and begin in Honors in their first semester or later through the college's accessible enrollment process.
