Post University Acceptance Rate, GPA, and Admission Requirements

On December 5, 2024, Post University was acquired by a subsidiary of Universidad Andr?s Bello (UNAB), a private nonprofit university based in Santiago, Chile, making Post the first U.S. institution to be owned by a Latin American university. UNAB is separately accredited in the U.S. by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education and is Chile's largest university by enrollment (63,000 students). Post University retains its own independent NECHE (New England Commission of Higher Education) regional accreditation, and both institutions continue to operate independently with no changes to Post's leadership, curriculum, or Waterbury campus. However, because NECHE requires any institution that changes ownership to participate in a Program of Special Monitoring - which is explicitly described by NECHE as a standard compliance mechanism, not a negative action - students and families should be aware of this status. The monitoring involves enhanced reporting and approval processes; Post's full evaluation visit is scheduled for 2027?28. Students transferring credits elsewhere should verify acceptance as they would for any institution.

Post University's Prior Learning Assessment (PLA) Portfolio Program allows eligible, matriculated undergraduate students to apply for college credit for professional life experience, with a maximum of 30 credits toward a bachelor's degree or 15 toward an associate degree. Students must have at least five years of professional experience in the chosen field to enroll in the PLA course. PLA credit is awarded through portfolio submission, not challenge exams, and there are specific courses and subject areas that are ineligible. For military students, Post participates in military Tuition Assistance (TA) programs and accepts transfer credit for ACE-reviewed military training on a course-by-course basis. Post also has a dedicated Post Eagle Program with specialized military advising and financial aid support. Post University created the first fully online Bachelor of Science in Equine Studies program in the United States, with concentrations in Business Management, Equestrian Coaching, and Interdisciplinary Equine Studies available online, and an Equine Wellness concentration only available on the Waterbury campus. For students who work in the equine industry, live in rural areas without a nearby equine program, or need to continue earning income while pursuing a degree, this is a structurally unique offering - not a marketing claim. The program covers equine science, barn management, nutrition, business ethics, and industry operations. Post's Malcolm Baldrige School of Business is programmatically accredited by ACBSP, and the university is accredited by NECHE (regional accreditation), meaning the Equine Studies degree carries the same institutional recognition as any other Post degree. Students in competitive equine or equestrian coaching careers who want a bachelor's credential without relocating or stopping work should evaluate this program against the only comparable programs available, most of which require on-campus attendance.

Post University accepts transfer credits from accredited two-year and four-year institutions at 75 credits maximum toward a bachelor's degree from a two-year school, and up to 90 credits from a four-year institution. For students who have already completed an associate degree, Post may accept courses with a D or higher - a more permissive policy than many institutions. Incoming transfer students should request a formal credit evaluation before enrolling, not after, to confirm how their prior coursework maps to their intended Post degree plan. Outgoing credit transferability is a separate matter: while Post holds NECHE regional accreditation which is recognized universally in the U.S., transferring specific Post courses to another institution is always at the receiving school's discretion.
