Albany Technical College Acceptance Rate, GPA, and Admission Requirements

Each year from November 1?30, Albany Tech waives its standard $25 application fee as part of Georgia's statewide Apply to College/GEORGIA MATCH push. If your timeline is flexible at all, hold your application for this window - it costs nothing to apply and there's no admissions downside to waiting a few weeks if you're outside the window anyway.

Albany Tech's Associate of Science in Nursing program doesn't admit everyone who clears the minimum bar - applicants are ranked by a combination of nursing GPA, pre-admission test score, and completed core coursework, and the highest-ranked applicants fill the available seats. Critically, the nursing GPA calculation uses grades from every attempt at a required course, not just your best or most recent try - so retaking a science course to "erase" a low grade doesn't work the way it might elsewhere; both attempts count.

Albany Tech's Practical Nursing diploma has an October 1 deadline for spring admission, while the Associate of Science in Nursing degree runs June 1 (fall) and November 1 (spring) - these are different cycles for related but distinct credentials. Also note that most AAS programs let you begin coursework in provisional status while finishing admission requirements, but Health Care Technology programs are the explicit exception - you must be fully admitted before starting any coursework in those tracks.

Georgia's HOPE Career Grant provides additional tuition coverage on top of the standard HOPE Grant, but only for a specific list of high-demand programs - Surgical Technology, Pharmacy Technology, Cybersecurity, Criminal Justice Technology, and Diesel Equipment Technology among them. If you're choosing between two similar career paths, checking whether one is HOPE Career Grant-eligible and the other isn't can meaningfully change your out-of-pocket cost - this is worth a five-minute check before committing to a program.
