EMCC's general admission is open and rolling, but nursing applicants must have specific documents (transcripts, prerequisite completion records) in by a December 30 priority deadline. Don't let the college's overall relaxed timeline lull you into treating nursing the same way - this is a hard internal cutoff specific to the competitive program.

EMCC's TEAS exam can only be taken twice annually with a minimum 45-day gap between attempts, and the college uses your highest score. If your first attempt falls short, you have exactly one more shot that year - schedule your first test early enough in the cycle that a required retake still lands before your application deadline.

EMCC requires all nursing admits to complete a national criminal background screening at their own expense after receiving an offer - not as part of the initial application. Since the Maine State Board of Nursing can refuse licensure based on certain criminal history, anyone with relevant history should raise it with the program director before investing further, even though it won't block the admission offer itself.

EMCC strongly recommends physics with lab as a prerequisite specifically for its mechanical, building, electrical, and Medical Radiography programs - a requirement that doesn't apply to nursing or most other tracks. If you're still in high school and unsure which EMCC program you'll target, taking physics keeps this pathway open rather than closing it off by default.
