KCC's Selective Admissions nursing pathway scores the Kaplan exam as a weighted percentage of 32 total points (an 87% raw score becomes 27.84 admission points) - but you're only allowed ONE attempt per calendar year, and a retake requires waiting a full year before you're even eligible again. Don't schedule this exam until you've done months of dedicated prep; a mediocre first attempt doesn't just cost points, it removes you from that cycle entirely.

Both Anatomy & Physiology courses require a B- or better, and KCC caps you at 2 total attempts - critically, a withdrawal (W) or incomplete counts as a used attempt, not a free pass. If you're struggling mid-semester, get into tutoring immediately rather than defaulting to a withdrawal; a casual W taken to "reset" can quietly burn your only remaining shot at the grade you need.

KCC's nursing track is "laddered": finishing Level I coursework earns an interim Practical Nursing Certificate and NCLEX-PN eligibility without a new application, letting you work and earn as an LPN while continuing toward Level II. If finances are tight, plan explicitly around this exit point rather than treating the AAS-RN as the only valid outcome - and if you're already an LPN, the separate Advanced Placement LPN-to-RN track skips you past Level I admissions competition entirely.

Submit KCC's general application first (selecting Nursing as your academic program), meet with an Academic Advisor to confirm which of your transfer courses actually satisfy prerequisites, and only then log into the separate Selective Admissions portal (which uses different credentials than KCC's general "Bruin Portal") to submit the points-ranked program application. Applicants who try to apply to Selective Admissions before establishing general enrollment and transcript review are routinely rejected on process grounds alone, independent of academic qualification.
