Macomb Community College Acceptance Rate, GPA, and Admission Requirements

Nursing (ADN and LPN) at Macomb isn't GPA-only - it's a published weighted formula: GPA across four prerequisite courses (BIOL-2400/2730, ENGL-1181/1211, HHSC-1040, BIOL-2710) is worth 47%, and the HESI Admission Assessment composite score is worth the other 47% (the remaining points come from CNA certification/work-experience bonus points). Because the formula is published, calculate your projected composite BEFORE applying: if your prerequisite GPA is borderline, you can offset it with focused HESI prep, since the exam can be retaken across cycles and your highest score within the 3-year window counts.

BIOL-2400 (or 2730) and BIOL-2710 must have been completed within 5 years of the application deadline to count toward your ranking score - older grades, even A's, are excluded. If you took A&P years ago, you'll likely need to retake it at Macomb, and critically, a forced retake due to this rule may NOT be covered by financial aid. Sequence your prerequisites so your 5-year window comfortably covers your intended application deadline (Feb 1 for most Selective Admissions health cycles), rather than risking an uncovered, unfunded retake.

Macomb only accepts HESI Admission Assessment scores taken AT Macomb - scores from other testing sites are rejected outright. If you're referred to formal Placement Testing instead, Macomb strongly recommends the Placement Testing Study App beforehand; retesting costs $25 and requires a mandatory 7-day wait (then 120 days after a second attempt), so an unprepared first attempt can cost you a full semester's worth of scheduling flexibility, not just a fee.
