Sampson Community College Acceptance Rate, GPA, and Admission Requirements

Sampson's nursing admission awards 2 additional points to Sampson County residents (advanced placement track only), 5 additional points to applicants who already hold an associate degree or higher, and up to 6 points for current medical certifications (2 points each, verified by uploading your certificate to the application portal). If you're outside Sampson County, prioritize documenting any medical certifications or a prior associate degree instead, since these point categories apply regardless of residency.

TEAS testing at Sampson runs from the fall semester through January 31 each year, and if you test on-site, you must wait a minimum of 30 days between attempts and can only be registered for one test at a time. Take your first attempt as early in the fall as possible so a required retake still has time to land before the deadline.

Sampson explicitly warns that applicants who have pled guilty to or been convicted of a felony or misdemeanor (other than minor traffic violations) may have their licensure restricted or denied by the NC Board of Nursing, which requires criminal history checks for anyone applying to practice nursing in the state. If you have relevant history, address it directly with the nursing program before investing in the full course sequence, since this is a licensure issue independent of admission itself.

Since 2017, all NC community college and university applicants must establish residency through the statewide Residency Determination Service (RDS), which lets you use one residency determination across multiple NC public colleges and for financial aid consideration. Complete this once early in your application process rather than assuming each individual college requires its own separate residency verification.
