Jackson State Community College (JSCC) Acceptance Rate, GPA, and Admission Requirements

If you're using TN Promise to fund your enrollment, you must complete and report community service hours (roughly 8 per semester, submitted to your partnering organization by specific per-term deadlines) and attend a mandatory tnAchieves meeting - miss either one and you permanently lose TN Promise eligibility with no way to regain it. Calendar these deadlines the moment you're assigned a mentor; this is the single most common way Tennessee students lose funding that has nothing to do with their grades.

Jackson State's nursing program uses two separate application deadlines depending on entry point - February 1 for summer admission into the LPN/RN option, and March 1 for fall admission - and you must already hold regular full college admission and good academic standing before you're even eligible to apply. Students who wait until they've "finished prerequisites" to start the admission paperwork often miss the window entirely; the nursing application and your coursework should run on parallel tracks.

The LPN-to-RN Career Mobility track requires Anatomy & Physiology II (BIOL 2020) and Introduction to Human Pathophysiology (HSC 190) to have been completed within the past five years of program enrollment - not just "at some point." An LPN with older coursework in these two specific classes will need to retake them before applying, even if every other prerequisite is current, so check these two course dates first when planning your bridge timeline.

JSCC offers both a standard dual enrollment program and a Middle College option for high schoolers, and credits earned transfer directly to Tennessee's public four-year institutions. A student planning to transfer after JSCC should front-load transferable core/gen-ed credit through dual enrollment while still in high school - it directly shortens time-to-degree at whichever four-year school comes next, and combines with TN Promise funding if the student is already in that pipeline.
