Germanna Community College Acceptance Rate, GPA, and Admission Requirements

Germanna switched its nursing/allied-health preadmission exam from the HESI A2 to the TEAS effective March 16, 2024; only HESI A2 scores taken on or before March 15, 2024 with all six required subjects are still accepted, and only until March 15, 2027. If you're using older prep materials or advice from a sibling or friend who applied years ago, confirm you're studying for the current TEAS, not a discontinued exam.

Germanna's nursing selection is explicitly points-based, built from performance in specific prerequisite courses (A&P I/II, English Composition, General Psychology, Dosage Calculations). Since points accrue from grades in named courses rather than a general GPA, prioritize excelling in exactly those four-to-five courses over spreading effort evenly across your full course load in the semesters before you apply.

The nursing program application only opens in February and closes in March each year - a tight, non-rolling window distinct from Germanna's normal continuous enrollment admission. Missing this window, even by finishing your prerequisites a few weeks late, pushes your application to the following year's cycle entirely.

Germanna's nursing program explicitly states it cannot accept a positive drug screening even with a valid medical marijuana card, since marijuana remains a Schedule 1 drug under federal law regardless of Virginia's state legality. If you use medical marijuana, plan around this hard federal-versus-state conflict well before your clinical rotations begin - one permitted retest is allowed, but a second positive result has real consequences for program continuation.
