West Virginia University at Parkersburg Acceptance Rate, GPA, and Admission Requirements

WVU Parkersburg exempts two specific groups from taking the HESI A2 nursing entrance exam: licensed practical nurses with an active, unencumbered license, and anyone who already holds an associate degree or higher in any discipline. If either applies to you, skip test registration entirely and confirm your exemption directly with the Nursing and Health Sciences Division rather than testing unnecessarily.

WVUP allows up to two HESI A2 attempts per semester (four per year, 45 days apart), and the exam's composite score must be within the last two years. Notably, Chemistry and Physics are not tested on this version of the HESI A2 - redirect study time toward the sections that are actually covered rather than over-preparing for content that won't appear.

WVUP's AAS Nursing program has two distinct admission pathways: the standard prelicensure track and a separate LPN-to-RN bridge. If you're a licensed LPN, apply through the bridge track specifically - it's a distinct application path with its own requirements, not just a note added to the general application.

Being admitted to WVU Parkersburg generally (which has open, rolling admission) does not get you into Nursing - you must separately meet general college admission first, then complete an entirely distinct Nursing and Health Sciences application including your own high school and college transcripts and the pre-nursing exam. Treat these as two sequential, separate hurdles rather than one combined process.
