BRCC's Division of Nursing/Allied Health runs genuinely separate pathways: the Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN/RN) with packets releasing on specific dates (e.g., after 2:00 PM on a named Friday in September), a standalone Practical Nursing (LPN) diploma track, a distinct LPN-to-RN Entry Track that ONLY opens in fall semester (Nov 2-30 in one recent cycle) and requires scoring 850+ on EACH nursing challenge exam, and HNUR 1214 Nursing Fundamentals - a CNA-feeder course requiring 70% to test for CNA certification but a full 80% (or a "B" specifically, for students continuing toward LPN) to actually progress into Practical Nursing. A student's correct entry point depends entirely on their current credential status; conflating these four tracks is the single most common planning error a family can make here.

Beyond BRCC's own admission criteria, the Louisiana State Board of Practical Nurse Examiners explicitly states candidates currently serving under ANY court-imposed supervised probation, work-release, school-release, or parole connected to a felony conviction or Article 893 plea agreement are barred from program admission - this is state licensing law, not a college-level policy a counselor or advisor can appeal around. A student assuming they can test close to the application deadline risks discovering a developmental math or English requirement too late to complete it before their intended program start - test early enough to absorb a full semester of potential remediation if needed.
