New River Community and Technical College Acceptance Rate, GPA, and Admission Requirements

New River CTC's practical nursing, medical insurance billing/coding, paramedic, welding technology, cosmetology, and about 40 other certificate/associate programs qualify for the WV Invests grant, which covers full basic tuition and fees as a "last-dollar-in" award after other aid is applied. Every degree-seeking New River CTC student is automatically assigned a dedicated Student Success Coach who helps with first-semester registration, campus resource connections, and faculty advisor introductions - a structured, guaranteed support layer many community colleges only offer informally. Counsel incoming students to reach out to their assigned coach proactively in the weeks before their first semester (rather than waiting to be contacted) to front-load registration for high-demand nursing/allied-health prerequisite sequencing before seats fill.

New River CTC has formal transfer agreements with Alderson Broaddus University, Bluefield State College, BridgeValley CTC, Concord University, Glenville State College, Fairmont State University, and West Virginia State University - reflecting its origin as a spinoff of Bluefield State and Glenville State's community college divisions. Counsel students planning to continue to a bachelor's degree to select an A.S. (not A.A.S.) track aligned with one of these specific articulation agreements from the start, since the transfer pathway is pre-negotiated by institution and by degree type.
