Green River College (GRC) Acceptance Rate, GPA, and Admission Requirements

Green River is one of only 36 institutions nationwide selected for the FAA's Collegiate Training Initiative, and it houses the only air traffic control lab in the Pacific Northwest - genuinely rare infrastructure for a community college. But acceptance into GRC's Aviation Technology program is not the same as acceptance into the CTI pathway itself; CTI has its own additional FAA-specific eligibility requirements layered on top of program admission. Green River's Practical Nursing admission doesn't rank by a single number - it's a holistic review combining academic history, work experience, and written responses, with explicit bonus points available for completing the Nursing & Healthcare Studies certificate, first-generation college student status, and multilingual ability. Because these bonus categories aren't automatically detected from a transcript, applicants need to explicitly name and document each one they qualify for in the written response portion - leaving one unclaimed is a common way students under-score an otherwise strong application. The cycle runs Sept. 15?Nov. 1, so start assembling documentation for these categories over the summer.

Unlike most community colleges, Green River offers Bachelor of Applied Science completion on-site in fields like Software Development, Cybersecurity and Networking, Accounting, Applied Management, and Aeronautical Science - some of which (IT-Software Development, Cybersecurity, Aeronautical Science, Forest Resource Management) also qualify graduates for the 24-month STEM OPT extension, a meaningful detail for international students. If your intended AAS major has a matching BAS track, staying at Green River through a bachelor's degree can be faster and cheaper than transferring elsewhere at the halfway point - ask an advisor about the specific ladder for your major before you declare.

International applicants interested in aviation careers don't have to complete a separate English proficiency track before starting coursework - the Academic Prep Program enrolls students in Aviation 103 concurrently with Intensive English, and English instructors sit in on the aviation class itself to provide direct support. This is a distinct admission route from the standard international application and should be requested by name (not assumed to happen automatically) when applying through the international office.
