Tornado warnings issued for Nebraska and Iowa
Eastern Nebraska and Western Iowa regions are expect multiple tornados. Multiple tornado warning are issued for early Friday morning. Severe thunderstorms are expected in the regions with tornados. The citizens are advised to take precautionary measures and avoid unnecessary traveling. Educational institutions will remain closed including schools and colleges.
Also, tornado warnings are issued for Omaha areas as the storm is expected to move forward. Parts Pottawattamie, Harrison Counties, Shelby and Cass are under threat of severe thunderstorms and tornados.
Heavy rain spell are also expected which may cause flooding in these areas. Douglas County and several other Nebraska and Iowa counties are under a flood watch until 10 a.m. on Friday.
Omaha region was hit by heavy rain and flash flooding this Monday and Tuesday. More than 10,000 customers were without power. Omaha received more than 12.7 centimeters of rain in less than two hours. The heavy rains caused flooding in basements and cars submerged in low-lying areas. That downpour, combined with rain earlier in the nighttime hours, brought the total to 8 inches (20.23 centimeters) in the region, according to the National Weather Service.
5 people were reportedly dead and another 35 were badly injured during the storms. Now the areas are under a threat of another storm. Authorities are taking all precautionary measures and power outage is restored in many areas. Citizens are facing several problems including power outage and flooding.
Flood related water born diseases are expected. All citizens are advised to take the precautionary measures and stay away from electrical devices as much as they can. Power companies are also working hard to provide un-interrupted power supply.
