Coastline cannot enroll new students currently living in Arkansas, Delaware, Georgia, Minnesota, New Mexico, Oregon, Rhode Island, or Washington, D.C. New York residents can only continue if already enrolled (not start fresh), Kentucky residents can only enroll if military, and effective Summer 2026, Mississippi residents are excluded entirely. Verify your current state against this list first - and re-check it if you move or get reassigned mid-program, since eligibility is tied to current residence, not where you started.

Pace+ is a direct-assessment, competency-based program that lets you demonstrate existing knowledge and experience to accelerate your degree rather than sitting through a fixed semester pace covering material you may already know. It's fully online and self-paced - a genuinely different structure from standard coursework, well-suited to working adults or career-changers with relevant background, not a remedial or alternative-track stigma.

Coastline awards up to 40 units of credit for military training and experience. Apply for this evaluation early - before registering for courses that might duplicate what you'd be credited for - since the Official Education Plan becomes mandatory once you've completed 6 units at Coastline or used 9 semester hours of Government-issued Tuition Assistance, and reworking your plan after that point costs more time than front-loading the evaluation.

Coastline runs five 8-week sessions per academic year rather than standard semesters, and each military branch's TA approval window is strict: Army requires submission 60 to 7 days before the course start, Navy recommends 30 days in advance with a hard 14-day deadline. Submit your TA request the moment a session's registration opens rather than waiting, since the short 8-week terms leave little room to recover from a late or denied TA approval.
