Oakton College Acceptance Rate, GPA, and Admission Requirements

First-year nursing admission ranks applicants by CNA certification (plus passing the Illinois State Certification Exam), recent math coursework (completed or placed above MAT 070 within the past 2 years), and HESI Verbal scores - applicants below the specified Verbal threshold can still be admitted as "conditional students," but priority for that conditional status goes to in-district applicants. If you're in-district with a borderline Verbal score, confirm your district residency status explicitly when you apply, since it can be the deciding factor.

The LPN-to-RN advanced placement pathway requires an NLN Mobility Test score at the 68th percentile or better, a state-approved pharmacology course, and at least 6 months of LPN clinical experience completed within the last 3 years. If your most relevant clinical experience is approaching that 3-year mark, apply now - older experience outside that window won't count toward eligibility, regardless of how strong it was.

Oakton's Honors courses are explicitly open to two different groups: students with strong high school achievement records and current Oakton students who have excelled here. If you didn't qualify for Honors coming out of high school, your strong performance in your first semesters at Oakton can still open that door - don't assume the opportunity has passed.

Oakton's partnership with Superior Ambulance lets EMTs and paramedics turn real-world field experience directly into college credit. If you already have EMS experience, use this partnership to accelerate your health career coursework rather than starting from zero, especially if you're aiming toward nursing or another allied health pathway.
