Sauk Valley Community College Acceptance Rate, GPA, and Admission Requirements

SVCC is 100% open-admission overall, but Nursing (LPN and ADN) and Radiologic Technology run a genuinely selective, points-ranked process with a March 1 completion deadline - applicants are ranked highest-to-lowest and admitted until seats fill. A June 1 second deadline exists only to fill leftover seats, and applying then instead of March 1 actually costs a "bonus point" advantage for the following cycle rather than granting equal odds now.

All nursing applicants must complete the ATI TEAS test ($70) before the application deadline, and it can be retaken up to three times (once per semester). Because retake windows are limited by semester, students should test as early in their intended application year as possible - not the month before March 1 - in case their first score needs improving to be competitive within the point system.

Nursing and Radiologic Technology both require two letters of recommendation from professional sources (employer, coworker, supervisor, instructor, counselor) mailed directly to the Dean of Health Professions - letters from friends or family are explicitly rejected and can delay or deny the application. Make sure the student's chosen recommender is told directly to write as a professional contact, not a personal one.

Illinois law (110 ILCS 805/3-17) requires SVCC to give admission preference in these selective health programs to in-district residents; out-of-district applicants are only considered after June 1 if space remains, unless they come through a college with a cooperative agreement. An out-of-district student treating SVCC nursing as an easy backup should know they're behind in-district applicants by default.
