A student should treat attending the EARLIEST available Applicant Forum as the single highest-leverage action for wait-list position - submitting an application without yet attending a Forum doesn't establish wait-list placement at all, since placement happens only after Forum attendance.

Brookdale explicitly states no wait-list information is available until approximately 8 WEEKS following the Applicant Forum, since that's how long accurate placement takes administratively - and even after that, email inquiries get a 3-week response window providing only a "projected" (not guaranteed) enrollment date. A family should set expectations accordingly: don't panic-email the Health Science Institute office in week 2 expecting an answer, and treat any projected date received as a planning estimate, not a commitment.

Brookdale requires completion of one of four credentials (CNA, CHHA, PCA, or PCT) before starting the first NURS class, but the specific clinical/skills-validation requirement differs by credential: CNA requires clinical experience specifically in a residential care facility or hospital, while CHHA requires either in-person skills validation OR clinical in a residential care facility. A student choosing among these four options purely on cost or convenience should also confirm which specific clinical-validation pathway is realistically accessible to them locally, since the options aren't interchangeable in their practical requirements.

Brookdale explicitly reserves nursing seats for NJ STARS-eligible students who've met admission requirements - a real, structural set-aside, not just priority consideration. However, students who REFUSE an offer of admission get exactly ONE additional opportunity for admission before being placed at the end of the general waiting list - a second refusal (or further delay) costs the NJ STARS-specific advantage entirely. A NJ STARS student should treat their first seat offer as something to seriously evaluate accepting, since the safety net for declining is explicitly limited to a single additional chance.
