Monroe Community College Acceptance Rate, GPA, and Admission Requirements

MCC's competitive health programs (Dental Hygiene, Nursing, Radiologic Technology) require a 2.75 cumulative GPA by default, BUT applicants below that threshold are still considered if they hit a 2.5 cumulative GPA AND a 3.0 GPA specifically within their "quality point" prerequisite classes. A student with a respectable-but-not-stellar overall GPA should calculate their quality-point-class GPA separately before assuming they're ineligible - this dual-threshold structure is a real, named alternative path, not just a vague "we'll consider you anyway."

MCC explicitly illustrates this with a real example: a student with FIVE quality-point classes completed at all A's can score similarly to a student with SIX classes completed at A-'s and B+'s - ranking is by total points accumulated, not simply "more completed prerequisites wins." A student deciding whether to take an extra prerequisite course before applying, versus focusging on maximizing grades in fewer required courses, should understand that grade quality in completed courses may matter as much as course quantity for their point total.

MCC runs different deadlines by program: Clinical Lab Technician, Dental Assisting, Dental Hygiene, Radiologic Technology, and Surgical Technology all use a single January 31 deadline, while NURSING specifically has TWO deadlines - January 31 for Fall start, AND October 31 for Spring start. A nursing-track student should confirm which start term they're targeting and use the corresponding deadline, since this is the only listed program with a genuine two-cycle annual admission window among MCC's competitive health programs.

MCC offers an early admission option for most programs, but explicitly excludes these six named competitive health programs from that pathway entirely - AND notes that early admission students aren't eligible for federal Title IV financial aid regardless of major. A student targeting one of these six health programs specifically should use the STANDARD admission process from the start, since early admission isn't simply slower or less advantageous here, it's structurally unavailable.
