Ohlone College Acceptance Rate, GPA, and Admission Requirements

Deaf Culture, ASL Linguistics, and ASL 104 (or equivalents) must be successfully completed, plus 12 general education credits if you don't already hold an AA or BA. Ohlone is one of the few interpreter-preparation programs nationally built around a deaf-centered curriculum, with close proximity to the California School for the Deaf, Fremont - if you have existing engagement with the local Deaf community, document it specifically rather than relying on coursework alone.

The program explicitly asks for a statement covering your interest in the program, the specific qualities that would make you an effective interpreter, and your reasons for wanting to become an ASL/English interpreter.
