General admission to NCC is open - anyone with a HS diploma/GED gets in, no GPA cutoff, $0 application fee. But if your goal is Nursing, Dental Hygiene, Diagnostic Medical Sonography, Funeral Service Education, Radiography, Respiratory Therapy, or Veterinary Technician, you're entering a completely separate, competitive "selective program" track with its own prerequisite courses, GPA floor, and seat-limited capacity. Apply to NCC generally first, then submit the separate Selective Program application - don't assume your open-admission acceptance carries over.

For Nursing programs, your ATI TEAS score has a hard expiration tied to your applicant type: if you're an NCC student, the score must be dated within 2 years of your application deadline; if you're coming from outside NCC, it's also a 2-year window (4 years for LPN-to-ADN advanced placement applicants). Example: for a 2/1/26 deadline, an outside applicant's TEAS must fall between 2/1/24 and 2/1/26 - test too early and your score is dead on arrival. Schedule TEAS prep and the test itself at least 3 months before you plan to apply, never right at the deadline.

Selective health programs require HS or college-level Biology and Chemistry with a lab graded "B" or better (some programs accept "C" for Radiography/Vet Tech), plus Algebra I & II at "C" or better. These aren't waived by NCC's open-admission policy - a "C" in high school Chemistry can disqualify you from Nursing even though NCC would otherwise admit you to the college itself. If your transcript is borderline, retake the prerequisite at NCC (BIOS115/CHEM135) before submitting your Selective Program application rather than hoping a low high school grade gets overlooked.

Once admitted to Nursing, you must immediately begin processing PA State Police, FBI, and PA Child Abuse clearances through myRecordTracker - these have agency processing times measured in weeks, and failure to clear them by the published deadline blocks your registration for NURS101 entirely, even after you've been formally accepted. There's also a residency-dependent FBI requirement: students who haven't lived in PA for 2+ consecutive years need an additional FBI clearance via IdentoGO. Check your residency history before accepted-student deadlines hit.
