Community College of Philadelphia Acceptance Rate, GPA, and Admission Requirements

General admission to CCP is open and rolling, but the Nursing program is one of four competitive "select programs" in Allied Health with its own priority (Oct.) and final (Nov. 30) deadlines, a required Kaplan pre-admission exam due Dec. 15, and a minimum 2.75 GPA with zero D's, F's, or withdrawals on the transcript in the past two years. Students need to be admitted to CCP first, then apply separately to Nursing - and that second clock starts well before most students think about it.

CCP ranks Nursing applicants on a point scale combining the Kaplan pre-admission score with academic-category points; students scoring 7?9 points are admitted in descending order as space allows, and a 6 is held for review only if space remains. A student with a 2.8 GPA and a mediocre Kaplan score needs to know they're realistically in the "held for review" tier, not the "likely admitted" tier, so they can decide whether to retake the Kaplan or strengthen prerequisites before reapplying.

An application isn't considered complete until placement is satisfied, either through an official high school/college transcript or the ACCUPLACER test, and this has to happen before an acceptance letter can be fully processed for some pathways. Students who delay placement testing risk losing their spot in registration cycles tied to "successfully completed credits," since CCP's priority web registration windows are determined by credits already on record.

CCP only allows students to apply to ONE program within the Allied Health department (which includes Nursing) at a time. A student who wants to keep options open between, say, Nursing and another Allied Health track needs to choose a primary target rather than assuming they can submit parallel applications as a safety net.
