Williamson gives every admitted student a full three-year scholarship covering tuition, room, board, and books, but admission itself weighs financial need and genuine intent to work in a trade heavily. Use your application and interview to be explicit about both - a strong essay about loving woodworking without any indication of need, or vice versa, undersells your fit.

Getting in isn't just paperwork - candidates must attend an Applicant Day, followed by a separate Interview Day and a Family Financial Assessment. Treat Applicant Day as your first real audition: it's where you get instructions for the rest of the process, and how you present there shapes what happens next.

Williamson only admits unmarried men age 20 or younger (by June 1 before entry) with no children, who are U.S. citizens or green card holders and can meet physical demands of hands-on trade work. These aren't soft preferences - they're hard eligibility gates, so confirm every one before investing time in the application.

Applications can start as early as August 1st between junior and senior year, well before the mid-January-ish final deadline. With only ~130 spots offered each year, applying at the opening of the window gives you the most room in the process, including scheduling Applicant Day at a good time.
