AHC's Registered Nursing program is actively raising its math prerequisite: for the 2025 cycle, MATH 331 or higher was accepted, but starting with the 2026 application cycle, a transfer-level (100-level) math course becomes mandatory for ALL new and re-applicants - with STAT C1000 (MATH 123) specifically named as the requirement for students planning to transfer to a CSU/UC for a bachelor's degree. A student or counselor working from last year's prerequisite sheet, or from a sibling's older experience, needs to confirm the CURRENT cycle's math requirement specifically, since this is a recently-changed, not stable, standard.

AHC frames its nursing programs around a structural "ladder concept" specifically built for upward mobility while continuing to work - a CNA or Psychiatric Technician credential can lead into the LVN program, which can lead into the LVN-to-RN bridge, with the explicit design intent that a student may pause at any rung, work in that role, and return later for the next level. For a student balancing nursing education against immediate income needs, present this ladder structure explicitly as the intended use case, not an workaround - AHC built the program this way on purpose.

AHC explicitly offers a non-degree, 30-unit certificate pathway for California LVNs to qualify for the NCLEX-RN exam WITHOUT earning a full nursing degree - but AHC's own program materials explicitly warn that graduates of this option are considered "non-graduates of a registered nursing program" even after passing the NCLEX-RN, and MAY NOT meet employment requirements at certain agencies (Veterans Administration, military, or out-of-state employers named specifically). An LVN drawn to this faster pathway should weigh their actual target employer's degree requirements BEFORE choosing this option over the full associate degree route, since the speed advantage comes with a real, named credentialing gap.

Both AHC's RN program assessment and its separate LVN-track ATI PN Predictor exam are explicitly structured as 180-minute (3-hour) proctored tests with NO calculator allowed, where students who pass on the first attempt need only take it once, but failing students get exactly ONE retest opportunity. A student should treat their first sitting as the priority attempt to fully prepare for (through whatever AHC-recommended prep resources exist) rather than treating it as a low-stakes diagnostic, given the hard one-retest ceiling.
