Norco College Acceptance Rate, GPA, and Admission Requirements

Norco is one of three colleges in the Riverside Community College District (RCCD), alongside Riverside City College and Moreno Valley College, and RCCD policy allows a student to enroll in classes at ANY of the three regardless of which one they designate as their "Home College." But assessment, counseling, financial aid, EOPS/CARE, CalWORKs, and Veterans' Services are all tied specifically to the Home College designation. A student should pick Norco as Home College deliberately based on which campus's counseling/financial-aid office they want as their primary point of contact - not simply because Norco happens to offer the specific class they want this semester, since that class is accessible either way.

California's AB 705 law requires RCCD to use high school coursework, high school grades, and high school GPA to determine Math and English placement at enrollment - meaning most students never need to sit a standalone placement exam at all if their high school transcript is on file. Make sure transcripts are submitted promptly through the application so the AB 705 placement engine has what it needs; a student who skips this step may be defaulted to a lower or unclear placement simply because the data wasn't available, not because of their actual readiness.

For incoming students from partner high schools, Norco's two-part "Norco Advantage" program (a required campus tour, Day 1, followed by a required half-day orientation, Day 2) is the explicit gateway to priority registration AND priority consideration for the Promise Program (free first-year tuition and waived student fees for qualifying students). Crucially, students do NOT receive automatic Promise priority just for graduating from a partner high school - skipping either day forfeits priority entirely, and FAFSA completion is a prerequisite even before the Norco application itself will be accepted in some pipeline programs.

RCCD assigns registration appointment times via an "Order of Registration" system with Early Registration Groups set by a Registration Committee - meaning a student's actual time slot to register is not fixed by enrollment date alone but by a structured, multi-factor priority system. Check MyPortal regularly as registration approaches rather than assuming a remembered or assumed appointment time is still accurate, and note that waitlisted students MUST attend the first class meeting to avoid being automatically dropped, with waitlisting itself closing at midnight two days before the first class meets.
