West Valley College Acceptance Rate, GPA, and Admission Requirements

West Valley holds Transfer Admission Guarantee agreements with six UC campuses - Davis, Irvine, Merced, Riverside, Santa Barbara, and Santa Cruz - but you may only submit one TAG application, due September 30, and it locks you into meeting that campus's specific GPA and major-prep courses by set dates. Choose the TAG campus that's genuinely your top choice, not a safety, since committing GPA and coursework to one school's requirements limits flexibility. You must still submit the regular UC application (Oct 1?Nov 30) separately.

UCLA doesn't participate in TAG, but West Valley's Honors Program has a Transfer Alliance Program (TAP) agreement that gives Honors students priority consideration for College of Letters and Science majors at UCLA. If UCLA is a real target, apply to the Honors Program early - TAP priority is tied to Honors Program standing, not something you can bolt on senior-semester.

Completing an Associate Degree for Transfer (AA-T or AS-T) - offered in majors from Administration of Justice to Nutrition and Dietetics - guarantees CSU admission with junior standing and priority consideration for a "similar" major, though not your specific campus of choice. Apply to graduate through the student portal by mid-February (fall transfer) or mid-September (spring transfer) - missing that petition deadline means the ADT isn't awarded even if coursework is done.

West Valley participates in a UC/CCC pilot guaranteeing UC system admission (not a specific campus) to students who complete the Chemistry or Physics UCTP associate degree with a 3.5 GPA within two years full-time. It's a narrower guarantee than TAG but removes competitive uncertainty entirely for those two majors - worth confirming current pilot status with a counselor since MOU pilots can be time-limited.
