West Chester University of Pennsylvania (WCU) Acceptance Rate, GPA, and Admission Requirements

West Chester's Wells School of Music is one of the largest and most comprehensive university music programs in the Philadelphia region, offering performance, education, music therapy, jazz studies, composition, and music history degrees. Every prospective music major - regardless of instrument, voice, or program - must complete an in-person or video audition on their primary instrument or voice. All candidates are additionally tested in music theory, sight-singing, and piano (a secondary piano assessment applies even to students whose primary instrument is not piano). WCU's Health Science: Respiratory Care concentration requires an interview as part of the admissions process - beyond the general application. Studio Art and Graphic Interactive Design require a portfolio submission. These requirements are in addition to the university admission application, not substitutes for it, and students who submit the general application without completing the supplemental portfolio or scheduling the Respiratory Care interview have incomplete applications for those specific programs. Respiratory Care at WCU is an uncommon undergraduate-level program in Pennsylvania, meaning it attracts students who may not realize the interview is a selective screen rather than a formality.
